A WORLD OF ACTIVITIES
HORSE RIDING
We have our own private path into the Andes range, to accommodate different levels of horseback riding - from an easy ride at the farm to a big overnight adventure to the glacier. Or just say hi to our charming horses, they love visitors (meet Maka, pictured).
FARM TOURS
For the curious, or those looking to reconnect with a more simple life, we operate tours covering our sheep, chickens, pigs, vegetable garden, horses and trout lake. Take a stroll and learn how we turned so many hectares of barren brush into a self-sufficient system feeding the lodge.
FLY FISHING
A short walk from the lodge you’ll find a tranquil lake well-stocked with stunning rainbow trout. Practice in the lake then graduate to the pristine glacial Rio Azul on your doorstep, a perfect mountain river to while away lazy hours fishing.
RAFTING
The sparkling Rio Azul, which winds by our doorstep on its way down from the Andes above is perfect for an easy introduction to rafting. For those looking for a little more excitement, the area around El Bolson is a mecca for whitewater rafting enthusiasts.
MOUNTAIN-BIKING
Keen cyclists can enjoy the many different mountain paths surrounding the ranch, the adventurous can take a trip up the imposing Piltriquitron mountain opposite, with the company of our professional guide.
STARGAZING
Although we are only 15 minutes from the convenience of El Bolson, we are separate from the town - and light pollution - by a large ridge. This means the night skies are incredibly clear, a view improved by our dry microclimate and minimal cloudcover. Plan your trip to avoid the full moon and enjoy a wealth of stars, galaxies and nebulae it’s increasingly hard to find.
YOGA & WELLBEING
Head into the woods beyond the trout lake and before long you’ll find a peaceful clearing, and our Domo. Surrounded by forests and babbling streams, it’s the perfect spot to practice yoga or meditation.
BIRDWATCHING
The ranch is blessed with a wide range of native birds, both year-round residents and seasonal visitors from afar. Keen ornithologists will meet our resident Chimangos, the colourful Ibis, the raucus Terra Terra’s, a range of woodpeckers, kingfishers and the red-bellied Cauguen our biggest wild duck. Feeling adventurous? Head up into the mountain and find yourself eye-to-eye with our magnificent Andean Condors.
SKIING
The mountains surrounding El Bolson (and further afield, Bariloche) contain excellent skiing. For guests visiting in winter we’ll happily suggest some great local lines to enjoy, whatever your level of ability.
PARAGLIDING
Adrenaline-seekers come from many miles around to launch themselves off the shoulder of our iconic neighbour, Il Piltriquitron. We can help you do the same, if you have the “cajones”...
WORKSHOPS
Want to learn how to make bread at home? Or home-brew beer? Do you want to start your own organic garden? We can help. Meditation, yoga, motorcross - you can learn all this and more here at Origenes. The size of the lodge and its wonderful location makes it a perfect place for team-building or corporate retreats, please contact us to find out more.
